The Diocese of Springfield is home to many religious orders who serve faithfully each day, each with distinctive charisms and commitments but all are devoted to live the Gospel in community.
The call to religious life may lead a woman to any of these orders. Each community encourages a thorough discernment process to help individuals discover their vocation.

Single life...as a vocation? All are called to live their life joined to Christ in Baptism. For many, single life becomes the best way to live their vocation, whether "being single " is a choice or circumstance.
Accepting the vocation of single life, means choosing to serve God as a member of the laity. Single persons serve the Christian family through acts of love and service through a variety of lay ministries.
Living the single life invites individuals to make a difference in their world and communities as Jesus did.

Every couple must strive to recognize in this bond which they are called to live a sacred and saintly life.
Engaged couples are encouraged to ask themselves whether God is calling them to marriage- to a faithful, permanent, life-giving relationship, that is, in essence the foundation of the Christian family, or domestic Church. Watch for our page on marriage, coming soon.
